TGS Excels at the North London Festival Verse & Speaking Competition

Our talented children at The Gower School continue to shine! At the 2024 North London Festival of Music, Speech, and Drama, TGS pupils brought home an impressive array of prizes, showcasing their dedication to the performing arts.
In the Verse and Speaking competition, pupils from various year groups earned top honours for their performances of well-known poems.
The results are as follows:
- 1st Prize – A Form 3 girl in the Year 3 Verse and Speaking category for her expressive rendition of “The Plight of the Bumblebee” by Valerie Bloom (pictured above)
- 1st Prize – A Form 4 girl in the Year 4 Verse and Speaking category for her expressive rendition of “The Invisible Beast” by Jack Prelutsky
- 2nd Prize – A Form 2 boy in the Year 2 Verse and Speaking category
- 3rd Prize – A Form 4 boy in the Year 4 Verse and Speaking category
- 3rd Prize – A Form 3 boy in the Year 3 Verse and Speaking category
- 5th Prize – A Form 4 boy in the Year 4 Verse and Speaking category
The competition judges were thoroughly impressed by the confidence, clarity, and emotional depth our pupils displayed in their performances. Each child received thoughtful feedback and praise for their hard work.
These incredible achievements would not have been possible without the expert guidance of our LAMDA teachers – Mr Taylor, Mr Salmon, Miss McNamara, and Miss Mullen. Their commitment to excellence has inspired our students to perform at their very best.
Congratulations to all the winning TGS children for their outstanding performances. This result follows on from some excellent results in the previous years of the Festival.
