TGS Wins 12 Medals in North London Festival

The Gower School children are absolute stars! At the 2022 North London Festival of Music, Speech and Drama, TGS children won 2 medals in the verse speaking competition a stunning 10 medals in the recorder competition.

The festival’s verse speaking competition took place on Sunday 8th May, with several TGS children impressing the judges with their performance so much they were acknowledged with Merits for their efforts. Two children placed in the competition: a Form 2 boy who placed 3rd in the ages 5-6 class, and a Form 4 girl who placed 2nd in the ages 7-8 class. 

The festival’s recorder competition took place on Monday 9th May, where the children played their best in a variety of solo and ensemble performances. Each child’s diligent practising and professionalism seriously impressed the competition judge, who awarded them with several 3rd, 2nd, and 1st place prizes in several performance categories. 

Congratulations to the many winning TGS children for their exemplary performances in this prestigious festival – what an outstanding showing for our school! An incredible amount of thanks to our recorder teacher Miss Widdup and our LAMDA teachers Mr Taylor, Mr Salmon, Miss McNamara, and Miss Mullen, whose excellent teaching have led to this impressive windfall.

Verse Speaking Ages 5-6: 

3rd Place – Form 2 boy 

Verse Speaking Ages 7-8: 

2nd Place – Form 4 girl 

Novice Recorder: 

1st Place – Form 2 girl 

2nd Place – Form 1 girl 

Recorder Solo Grade 1-2: 

1st Place – Form 5 girl 

2nd Place – Form 3 boy 

3rd Place – Form 5 boy 

Recorder Solo Grade 3-4:  

1st Place – Form 6 girl 

Recorder Solo Grade 5: 

1st Place – Form 5 boy 

Recorder Solo Grade 6: 

3rd Place – Form 5 girl 

Ensemble Grade 4: 

1st Prize – The Gower School Ensemble – Forms 5 and 6 

2nd Prize – The Gower School Ensemble – Forms 3 and 4 

These amazing results continue the success TGS children have achieved at the ongoing festival thus far. In March 2022, a TGS child also placed first in the North London Festival’s Strings competition.
