TGS Child Wins Big at North London Festival

21st March 22

NLF Blurred Name

The North London Festival of Music, Speech and Drama was founded in 1920 with the goal of supporting young people in the arts. The Gower School encourages children to participate each year, to have a performance opportunity outside school to work towards, as well as gain experience in an adjudicated performance. It is wonderful to be able to hear children performing live music once again, and the children have been excited to participate.

In March our very own Form 5 girl CG won First Prize in the Grade 5 Strings competition! The festival adjudicator said that she showed ‘a very courageous performance with much to commend,’ and that she ‘projected boldly and with clear articulation.’ Her playing was also described as having a ‘very appealing tone and the vibrato was used to good effect.’ To top it all off, after she finished playing she received three rounds of applause! Though nervous before her performance, she felt assured because of her diligent practicing.

First prize includes a £50 book voucher to the ABRSM’s shop. What a super achievement – a great start for TGS students in this prestigious competition.
