Last Saturday marked a historic milestone for our school as 50 enthusiastic young athletes participated in the Mini London Marathon for the very first time! Children ranging from 5 to 11 years old dashed through the 1-mile course with energy and enthusiasm. The course began at the iconic Horse Guards Palace, weaved around the scenic St James Park, and passed by Buckingham Palace before finishing on the grand Mall. Upon crossing the finish line each runner was awarded a commemorative medal which they wore proudly around their necks.
Despite this being our school’s first time participating in the event, our young runners showcased remarkable running talents, with several of them clinching the top 10 positions among a field of 550 competitors! To our exceptional athletes who claimed the 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th spots, and to every single one of our participants, we commend you for your outstanding performance and efforts.
The sidelines buzzed with excitement as parents and teachers rallied to support our young runners, and we extend our heartfelt gratitude to the parent volunteers who ran alongside our younger participants. Special thanks go to our Head of PE and Sport, Mr. Luca Bishop, whose organisation ensured that each child was equipped with bibs and essentials, setting the stage for an unforgettable experience. We look forward to returning to the Marathon’s starting line next year, ready to add another race to our school’s sprint towards sporting excellence!
