Inspection Reports

‘Warm and nurturing.’ ‘Challenging.’ ‘Effective.’

Independent Schools Inspectorate, December 2025

Outstanding in every area. Again.

Ofsted, March 2025

As a member of the Independent Schools Association, The Gower School is inspected by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) on behalf of the Department for Education. ISI inspected our Primary school in December 2025 and has judged us to have met every standard.

  • Section 1 – Leadership and Management: ‘Effective, accessible’
  • Section 2 – Quality of Education: ‘Challenging, high expectations’
  • Section 3 – Physical and Mental Health: ‘Warm and nurturing’
  • Section 4 – Social and Economic Education: ‘Well-developed’
  • Section 5 – Safeguarding: ‘Robust, diligent, effective’

Ofsted inspected our Montessori Nursery in March 2025 and graded us Outstanding in every category.

Quotes from the ISI Inspection Report:

Children are “actively involved with their learning” and “successfully apply the skills they have learnt to develop their independent thinking and learning“.

Independent Schools Inspectorate, 2025

Children of all ages are challenged in every subject through a curriculum that goes beyond the age-related expectations of the national curriculum.

Independent Schools Inspectorate, 2025

The Montessori curriculum is “carefully designed to enable pupils to develop skills across a suitably broad range of subjects”.

Independent Schools Inspectorate, 2025

The school cultivates a “supportive and nurturing environment” where “kindness and respect are promoted by teachers and staff.

Independent Schools Inspectorate, 2025

The curriculum is matched to pupils’ ages and aptitudes effectively, and covers a broad range of subjects that develop linguistic, creative, mathematical, scientific, and technological learning.

Teachers have high expectations for what pupils can achieve, and tasks are often set that are complex and beyond national age-related expectations.

Pupils are actively involved in their learning. They successfully apply the skills they have learnt to develop their independent thinking and learning.

The school consistently affirms the value of positive and considerate behaviour among pupils. As a consequence, pupils are courteous and polite as they move around the school.

Relationships between staff and pupils, as well as between pupils themselves, are warm and nurturing.

Quotes from the Early Years Foundation Stage Inspection Report:

Children have excellent opportunities to explore the prepared environment and engage with materials of their own choosing, doing things they love whilst cultivating basic life skills, making their own decisions, and developing independence.

High quality resources, a challenging investigative curriculum and adults who show a thoughtful understanding of children’s developmental needs as well as high expectations, enable children to demonstrate creativity, exploration, and active learning.

Parents said their children are well cared for and nurtured by staff who care about their offspring’s development and wellbeing.
