Back in September, Islington Council asked local primary school pupils to help name their new food waste recycling vehicle. This was part of a campaign to encourage more food waste recycling and teach people about its environmental benefits.
With help from the Eco-Committee and ideas from every class, we came up with several creative names. We are thrilled to announce that one of our suggestions has won! The Food Waste Muncher, suggested by our Form 1 class, Les Requins, is now the official name of Islington’s new recycling vehicle.
To celebrate, the entire school gathered to see the Food Waste Muncher in person. We took a group photo in front of the new vehicle, which was an exciting and proud moment for everyone. Les Requins also had their photo taken by a professional photographer to mark their achievement. Their brilliant idea will even appear in the next issue of IslingtonLife magazine.
This project has been a great way for our school to support recycling and care for the environment. Well done to Les Requins and everyone who helped make this a success!
