Form 4 Girl selected as ISA Public Speaking Finalist

26th February 24

We are very proud of three children who recently participated in the ISA’s annual Public Speaking Competition. In January, three girls from Forms 3, 4 and 5 warmed up their voices and recited poems in front of an audience of their classmates. These pupils gave their very best performances, which were tthen filmed and entered into the competition’s Key Stage 2 category.

The prestigious competition offers pupils the opportunity to display their oratory skills by reciting a poem or reading or speech to an audience. Our school is a big proponent of public performance, and we host plenty of opportunities throughout the year to develop children’s presentation, public speaking, and drama skills.

All children participate in an annual Poetry Recitation Week, where children memorise and perform a poem of their choice, and Upper School Public Speaking Week, where each child writes a persuasive speech on a guided topic (such as endangered animals, environmental protection or famous public figures) and orates this to their class. Weekly LAMDA lessons are also offered for children from Form 1 onwards, as well as the option to enter the ISA Shakespeare Monologue Competition each year.

We are happy to announce that our Form 4 girl has qualified for the national ISA competition, where she will perform her poem ‘Smartest Dog’ by Barbara Vance onstage in a live recitation along with the other finalists. The competition will take place in late March at the Bateman Auditorium, Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge University.

We wish our Form 4 girl the very best of luck in the competition! Her qualifying entry video can be viewed on our school Youtube page or below.
