Green Mark Certified

The Gower School has been certified to Green Mark - Level One.

Green Mark enables organisations to improve their environmental performances.

Islington Council School Travel Plan

The Gower School fully supports the Council's initiative to reduce the environmental impact of the journeys of parents and their children to and from school. We encourage applications from families who live within walking or cycling distance from the school.

A School Travel Plan is a written document, which sets out the practical steps a school intends to take to address the travel and transport problems arising from the school run.

Objectives are to reduce the number of car journeys to and from school by encouraging and developing alternative travel options such as walking, cycling, car-sharing and the use of public transport and to raise awareness of travel issues such as road safety, pollution and the many health benefits of sustainable modes of travel.

The children have regular visits from the Road Safety Team, and have a road map painted in their garden to practise navigation skills!
