TGS Pupil crowned National Champion in Public Speaking

27th March 26

We are delighted to share some news from one of our talented Form 5 pupils, who recently travelled to the historic Gonville & Caius College at the University of Cambridge to represent our school at the ISA Schools Public Speaking Competition National Finals. We are proud to share that she came away as the overall winner of this national competition.

Back in the Autumn 2025 term, three of our pupils were submitted to the ISA competition, and you can watch our Form 5 pupil’s entry on our school’s YouTube page.

In the national finals, our Form 5 pupil performed Michael Rosen’s poem ‘The Register’ to a packed auditorium. Her confidence, humour, and commanding stage presence captivated the audience from start to finish, demonstrating a remarkable maturity and flair for performance.

The English Speaking Union judges were full of praise for her performance in the finals, highlighting her unique use of humour, her exceptional ability to engage the audience, her clear and precise diction, and her brilliant use of the full stage space. It is a testament to her diligent practice that she was able to impress such a distinguished panel of judges at the highest level of national competition.

This achievement is a reminder of the extraordinary things our pupils are capable of when they are given the opportunity to shine.
