The Gower School Nursery Shines in Ofsted Report

We’re delighted to share some wonderful news: we have been rated Outstanding in every area by Ofsted following their recent inspection!

The inspectors awarded our nursery the highest possible rating across the board:
🌟 Outstanding for the quality of education
🌟 Outstanding for behaviour and attitudes
🌟 Outstanding for personal development
🌟 Outstanding for leadership and management
🌟 And Outstanding overall

This marks another proud milestone in the history of our Montessori nursery, which has been a part of the North Road community since it was founded by Principal Emma Gowers in 2000. As an independent setting, we’ve long been known for our nurturing approach and strong educational outcomes. This latest inspection result confirms it once again.

Ofsted inspectors described The Gower School as “an extremely nurturing setting,” highlighting how we encourage children to develop their imagination and creativity. They praised our high-quality and ambitious Montessori curriculum, especially in the pre-school classroom, and noted that babies and toddlers in our younger rooms are “extremely well supported.”

Parents also had plenty of praise to share, with the report noting their high satisfaction. Families spoke highly of our staff’s “extremely professional approach towards their children’s care, learning and development,” and we’re proud to say staff satisfaction was also very strong.

Principal Emma Gowers said:

“To be repeatedly judged as Outstanding in every individual area is a truly exceptional achievement. We are a very happy community of children, staff and parents, with an ambitious curriculum designed to support every aspect of a child’s development. Many families tell us they appreciate the feel of a trusted local nursery that’s independent, not part of a larger chain or private equity-owned group, as so many nurseries are now.”

The Montessori method, which was first developed over 100 years ago by Dr Maria Montessori, Italy’s first female doctor, remains at the heart of our teaching. It’s a proven approach that allows children to progress at their own pace, explore their interests, and achieve their full potential.
