The Gower School takes part in an array of charity events – both within the school calendar working with children and families, as well as staff fundraising outside of work, which is a great way to team build and raise money for worthy causes. Through encouraging charitable activities, The Gower School hopes to impress the importance of philanthropy and humanitarianism to the children.
These include the Big Toddle for Barnardo’s, Strawberry Tea for Breast Cancer Care, The Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal, Pyjama Day for Children in Need, Comic Relief, Sports Relief, The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning and Cake Sale for Macmillan Cancer Support, Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children, Chatterbox Challenge for I Can, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution, the Anti-Bullying Alliance, the Square Mile Run for Crisis, climbing Mount Kilimanjaro for Cancer Research UK and skydiving for Child Poverty Action Group, to name more than a few.
The children take part in many ways by wearing a specific outfit for the day, making a donation, or by taking responsibility for a cake sale. In some cases, the charitable event is organised entirely by the children! At The Gower School the children learn about many charities and charitable causes as well as the social responsibilities we all share.
