School Receptionist and Administrative Assistant

As a School Receptionist and Administrative Assistant for The Gower School’s Primary site at Cynthia Street, you will play an integral role in ensuring the smooth running of the front office, and be the first point of contact for parents, pupils and staff including visitors.

The ideal candidate will have prior administrative experience and be proficient in MS applications.

Job Description
The key responsibilities are:

  • Being responsible for answering the telephone and directing all calls to the appropriate member of staff
  • Being responsible for logging daily absences of pupils
  • Greeting and managing visitors and parents politely in line with the School’s Safeguarding policies
  • Preparing refreshments for weekly meetings and school events
  • Placing, receiving and distributing orders
  • Assisting the Principal and management with administrative tasks whenever requested

Working hours:

Monday to Friday, 40 hours a week – the school is open from 8 am to 6 pm, 48 weeks of the year and staff work within a shift system. This is a permanent position.

Person specification:

Our ideal candidate will be knowledgeable about office procedures, organised and flexible. The successful candidate will also be able to efficiently manage their time and prioritise tasks depending on their importance. You may also have experience working in an educational setting. You will have great attention to detail and the ability to work well in a team. Working within a busy and dynamic educational setting, you will be able to interact with parents, pupils and visitors in a polite and helpful manner. You will be educated to A-Level, with GCSE passes in English and Maths (essential).
