PE Teaching Assistant

The Gower School are looking to appoint a highly motivated, dedicated and enthusiastic Games and PE Teaching Assistant with experience of dealing with children within an educational setting to complement our sports department in our ‘Outstanding’ primary school.

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 8.30am – 5.30pm for 48 weeks of the year.

Start: September 2025, this is a permanent position.

Starting salary: £24,000 dependant on qualifications and experience and will be discussed at interview stage

 

Job Description

The key responsibilities are:

• Assist in planning and delivering engaging, sports sessions that cater to the diverse abilities of students.

• Maintain a safe and supportive environment during all sports sessions and fixtures.

• To attend relevant departmental and whole school INSET sessions.

• To support the Sports Department as required.

 

Person specification

Our ideal candidate will be sensitive, flexible, talented and passionate with a good team spirit. You will support the delivery of sport and PE, using sport to encourage confidence, enjoyment, and social skills as part of the students’ development. Experience in a physical education or PE Teaching Assistant role, particularly in an educational setting, is preferred. Relevant qualifications in PE and sports, such as a Level 2 or 3 Coaching Certification, are desirable.
