15th November 21
Each November The Gower School raises funds for the Royal British Legion and the Poppy Appeal. This year was no different, with children and staff selling poppies outside our Primary and Nursery school each morning.
At the Primary, paper poppies were available for purchase as well as handmade poppies sewn by Lower School children. No matter how low temperatures fell, children stood outside the school gates each morning in support of this honourable cause.
Nursery children created poppy-related artwork, such as painted glass jars and flowers made from tissue-paper, to be sold for charity. Parents showed the fundraiser great support at last Thursday’s Open Evening, and we’d like to thank everyone who purchased a piece of art and supported such a great organisation. Photos of the children’s artwork can be found on our Facebook page.
Their hard work and dedication has certainly paid off, as the The Gower School Primary raised £77.15 in aid, while The Gower School Nursery raised £237.86. The TGS community is very pleased to donate a total of £315.01 to the Royal British Legion.
Our charitable contributions teach children the importance of philanthropy and humanitarianism, as well as support organisations who accomplish vital work across communities. TGS is very proud of our collective efforts and encourages everyone to wear their poppy with pride!
