The Gower School earns HEYL Gold Award

Healthy Early Years London (HEYL) is an awards scheme funded by the Mayor of London. The scheme aims to support and recognise achievements in child health, wellbeing and development in Early Years settings. The HEYL Gold Award is the highest accolade they offer.

We are thrilled to announce that The Gower School Nursery recently achieved the HEYL Gold Award. The project was led by Miss Pedrana, Montessori Teacher. From February to June 2021, the Nursery staff team worked tirelessly to compile two insightful case studies in order to achieve this award.

Our “Wellbeing” case study incorporated the Leuven Scale, a five-point scale to measure both wellbeing and involvement, originally developed by Early Years pioneer Ferre Laevers and his team at Leuven University in Belgium. Meanwhile, to support our “Sustainability” case study, the Nursery team set up an edible garden for the children to help nurture and maintain.

The completed project was praised for demonstrating “outstanding commitment, enthusiasm and dedication, to providing fun, interesting and informative learning opportunities for the children.”

Earning a HEYL Gold Award is a huge accomplishment, and we are so proud of the Nursery staff who made it possible!

Come and visit us this Autumn!

We look forward to welcoming you to The Gower School!
