14th April 21
This year’s Readathon was a huge success, with the children reading a staggering 1,041 books in total. Our 12th Readathon began in early February, while England’s schools were closed due to the national lockdown and the children were still learning from home. It proved to be so popular that we extended it by an extra week!
Their efforts raised £1,025 for Read For Good, a UK charity that provides a regular supply of brand-new books along with storyteller visits to brighten up the days of children in all of the UK’s main children’s hospitals.
To take part, children simply choose titles to read – from books to blogs, comics to classics – and raise money by asking friends and family to sponsor them per book or per minute of reading. In addition, children can also earn points for their respective Houses.
During our final assembly before the Easter break, our Head Boy and Head Girl announced that this year’s winning House – and the recipients of the coveted Readathon Shield – are Cloudesley with 378.5 points!
A huge well done to all!
