Reception class win 1st Prize in national art competition

17th March 21

The Gower School Les Hiboux Reception Class

In January 2021, we were elated to receive our best-ever results in the ISA London North Art Competition – including two First Prize placements, one Second Prize placement, and three Highly Commended Prize placements. This was a huge achievement, and we were so excited that the children’s beautiful artwork would progress to the national competition.

The results for the ISA National Art Competition 2020 have now been revealed, and we are delighted to announce that our Les Hiboux (Reception) children have won First Place in the ‘Textiles Group, EYFS and Key Stage 1’ category!

‘Shapes and Buttons Wall Hanging’, the winning artwork, is a wall hanging inspired by the work of American pop art pioneer Andy Warhol, particularly his iconic ‘Campbell’s Soup Cans’. Each of the children designed and decorated their own can and sewed it onto a piece of felt.

This vibrant and colourful creation was produced by last year’s Les Hiboux class, who are now in Form One, and we are so proud of their excellent work! A big thank you to Miss Bedford, Head of Group for Les Hiboux, who guided the children in making their award-winning masterpiece.
