22nd December 20
This year, to mark the beginning of December, The Gower School’s Senior Choir spent several mornings sharing Christmas cheer at the school gate to raise funds for the Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal.
After a strange and challenging year, it made for a wonderfully festive sight. The children’s carol singing was at a very high standard, and many parents and families stood enjoying the music. They also received much praise from the local community, with some nearby residents clapping from their balconies – and there were even a few tears shed!
Our Senior Choir have been working very hard throughout the term, and we are especially fond of their rendition of ‘Angels’ Carol’ by John Rutter, which can be heard on our Facebook page.
Throughout November, at both our Primary and Nursery, children and staff had been busy selling poppies each morning in order to raise money for the Royal British Legion. We are so proud that, between the two sites, we raised a grand total of £508.54!
Our charitable contributions feel especially important this year, as the Covid-19 pandemic has left many charities unable to organise the fundraising events that support and sustain the vital work that they do. We believe the TGS community should be very proud of our collective efforts!
