Every September, The Gower School is delighted to take part in a Dahlicious Dress Up Day. This is a day for schools, community groups and libraries across the globe to dress up as their favourite Roald Dahl character and donate £1 to Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.
This year’s event, which took place on Thursday 17th September, felt particularly special, as it was the first school-wide activity we had organised since all the children returned to school after lockdown. Dahlicious Day was the perfect opportunity for them to unleash their creativity.
The children came to school in astounding costumes. Willy Wonka, Miss Trunchbull, Fantastic Mr. Fox, Oompa Loompas, The Enormous Crocodile, and many more brilliant characters can be viewed on our Facebook page.
Most importantly, together we raised £151.27 for Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity, which will benefit seriously ill children and young people who have long-term serious conditions.
Our Principal, Miss Gowers, was a little biffsquiggled (puzzled or confused) to learn that some witches had been turning her students into mice, but luckily, we had a trainee witch-detective on the case to help turn them back into children. So everything was phizz-whizzing (excellent or splendid) in the end! Thank you to our Drama Captain for a tremendous performance, which can be viewed below.
