The Gower School Drama Captain wins ISA Shakespeare Monologue award

5th October 20

Earlier this year, our Form 6 pupil and Drama Captain was selected to represent TGS in the ISA Shakespeare Monologue Competition 2020. For her submitted piece, she performed a monologue as Phoebe from ‘As You Like It’.

In April, right at the beginning of lockdown, we received some fantastic news, arguably when we all needed it the most. The ISA awarded our Drama Captain First Place in the Key Stage 2 Learnt Monologue category!

Here is what the ISA judges had to say about her performance:

“A wonderful performance: lively, modulated, witty, charming and engaging; captures the essence of Phoebe and is immediately accessible.”

This is an amazing achievement and well deserved. The 11-year-old thespian will be making the move to secondary school this September. At her Leavers Assembly, Miss Gowers presented the pupil with a special Shakespeare book. We are so proud to have her as part of the TGS community, and wish her the very best on her journey.

Our Drama Captain’s winning performance is available to watch below.
