Form 5 child wins ISA Young Musician Competition 2020

5th February 20

TGS ISA Winner

We are very proud of our Form 5 cello virtuoso who represented TGS at the first-ever ISA Young Musician Competition in January.

The final took place in Warwick Arts Centre, and the standard was very high across the board. The ten-year-old dazzled the judges with her excellent cello playing – and ultimately won the national ISA Young Musician award in the Junior School category!

I was shocked when my name was called and was announced the winner,’ she said of her moment of victory, ‘But I am very happy and so is my family; my little sister was jumping up and down with joy! This is the first trophy I have won and I will put it on my shelf at home!

Our pupil has studied the cello since she was three years old with the renowned cellist and teacher Annette Costanzi. She also takes part in the string ensemble club at The Gower School, which is part of the school’s weekly out of school enrichment programme.

Principal Emma Gowers said “We aim to have a broad spectrum of provision at the school and I am delighted the children are doing so well in creative arts. Huge congratulations for her incredible achievement at the national finals!
