TGS enters the ISA Shakespeare Monologues Competition 2019

The Gower School pupils performing monologues in costumes

The Gower School has entered two fantastic monologues into the Independent Schools Association’s Shakespeare Monologues Competition 2019. All children taking part performed wonderfully after honing their performance skills through our LAMDA lessons, and this is the first time we are taking part in the annual competition.

We received excellent feedback from our judging panel consisting of Miss McNamara, Miss Elin-Salt and Mrs Rodrigues-Cova (TGS LAMDA teachers), and Joshua McCord, an actor who works for the Royal Shakespeare Company. They all agreed that the standard of work was at a very high level, especially considering their age and experience, and their growth in confidence over this past school year is clear. We were able to submit only two entries and our judging panel chose a Year Four girl as Witch from Macbeth and a Year Five girl as Puck from A Midsummer Night’s Dream, to represent the school after some hard deliberation. Congratulations to all participants and best of luck to our finalists!

Come visit us this Summer!

We look forward to welcoming you to The Gower School!
