The Gower School Year Six girls’ football team came joint first at the Independent Schools Association’s London North regional girls football competition, held at Furzefield Leisure Centre, Potters Bar, on Wednesday 8th February. The girls had a nervous wait to hear the final results based on goals throughout the tournament, and were eventually placed second.
The team was eager to impress and bring home a shield and they delivered. Mr Jonathon Barradell, Head of PE and Games at The Gower School said: “This is a wonderful achievement, being the only school undefeated in their 10 matches and only having let in one goal all day we certainly deserved our shield, which the girls are delighted about. We will be proud to display the very well-earned shield at school.”
Delighted school Principal, Emma Gowers, Principal, said: “Very well done to our girls for a fantastic result. We are very proud of the whole team for the hard work, effort and determination they put into each game. They are great role models for our younger children, to show that if you put in the work, it will pay off.”
