The Garden
At TGS we
feel strongly that every child should have access to play in the fresh
air outside at least once a day. We are very proud of our garden, which
is timetabled for every group to use twice a day as a minimum. There are
opportunities for gardening, children plant vegetables, herbs, bulbs and
plants and take time tending and watering them.
There is a Wendy House, a little slide and lots of pushchairs, trucks,
cars and bikes for children of different ages to run about with. There
are also seated areas for quieter times or for outdoor snack time.
There is plenty of PE equipment - balls, hoops, beanbags, stepping stones,
cones etc, too - and organised games lessons take place every afternoon
for the older children.
We have a sand and water play area in the garden and there are usually
chalks and painting easels there too.
Only a thunderstorm will deter us - we even had great fun in the snow
covered garden making snowmen - we always remember that children love
the outdoors!
