Tidy Business Standards Gold Award

Other Awards | Home

Tidy Business Standards are an annual award scheme with three distinct levels. It is aimed at raising the awareness of all businesses to the ways in which they contain, store, collect and dispose of their waste.

The scheme gives public recognition to the efforts that businesses make to better their waste management practices and to improve the visual appearance of their local environment.

In order to meet the Gold Award the Gower School showed that they minimised their schools waste, encouraged recycling (both children and staff) and played a big part in keeping their local community clean and tidy, including providing a kerbside litter bin for staff to use during breaks.

Examples of The Gower School’s commitment to a greener society are:

Recycling of all paper, glass and metal cans
Recycling of Yellow Pages
Using real, washable nappies to reduce nappies buried in landfill
Composting all kitchen waste
Integrating the environmental agenda into the curriculum and encouraging all children to take part in recycling and composting activities at school and at home
