Staff and children at The Gower School celebrated a successful World Book Day in March 2006.
World Book Day was an outstanding success, thanks to all the parents, friends and guests who helped make our day such a special, amazing occasion. Amongst the achievements and activities were – poems written by our children during poetry workshops, drama workshops, hearing from authors, poets and actors about writing, creating and dramatising, a reading of ‘moral tales’ from the Deputy Mayor of Islington, audio books, artwork based around each groups topic or chosen books, storytelling by many parents and friends and masses more. Amongst the highlights of the day were seeing all 12 babies sitting in the story corner listening attentively to visitors reading stories to them, having our children write their own first poems and seeing our older children asking lots of intelligent questions of visitors to the school.
