Real Washable Nappies

Protecting the environment for our future is at the heart of the ethos of The Gower School. This is why we use real, washable nappies at our nursery school and encourage parents to do the same.

Your child will go through around 6000 nappy changes during his or her infancy. Disposable nappies consume materials and energy in their production and create a huge amount of waste that has to be disposed of through landfill sites or in incinerators.

Disposable nappies not only cost you a lot of money to buy, but they cost your local council a lot of money to dispose of. As a result of this, many local councils have created schemes to encourage you to use real nappies. The easiest way to find out what incentives your local council offers is to search your local council website for the word 'nappies' and see the results or call their recycling or waste minimisation team.
