Science & Nature
Situated at the entrance of the school and next to our Les Hiboux classroom is the Science and Nature garden.
With its vegetable growing patch that boasts apples, tomatoes and herbs and its many budding flowers, this garden is certainly a haven for botanical exploration. Sunflowers shoot up through the summer months, and the waterway system, leading to the pond is met by plenty of wildlife.
The school Guinea Pigs, Rufus and Oreo live here too and are looked after by the children. A quiet, sheltered hideaway to the corner of the garden invites children for reading, playing and lunching during the warmer months. Or even holding cake sales!
Roof Terrace
Backing onto the 2nd floor class room is the roof terrace, overlooking the London Sky-line. Child-size planting areas frame the terrace and a mini-amphitheatre acts as a lovely seating area or yoga practise area. The terrace is used as a picnic space, for drama and performing arts and as a learning space in the warmer months.
The children were involved in the design process of both gardens in order to get the best use from the space.
