TGS believes that it is important for children to gain an understanding of and appreciation for the different circumstances in which people find themselves in life, whether in the UK or abroad, young or old, through illness or incapacity. By learning about the range of charities we fundraise for children are motivated to fundraise for others less fortunate and are educated about the breadth of life.
In the past year The Gower School has raised £117 for the Poppy Appeal, £2700 through our Readathon for the CLIC Malcolm Sargent Cancer £335 for Breast Cancer Care at our Strawberry Tea, £320 for Children in Need, £300 for our local church, St Silas, for their solar roof project and most recently £300 for Japan.
Additionally our primary children have an excellent link with Age Concern, and the schools senior choir is regularly booked for carol singing at their Christmas lunch. Holiday Fun Club enjoys an annual Charity and Fundraising week, when the children choose a charity and raise funds themselves using their own ideas.
