Environment

As a school we are committed to behaving sustainably, and to promoting sustainable living to our staff, children and families through good practice and education.

Our activities interact with the environment via the use of resources such as energy and water and the generation of waste. We are committed to continuous improvement and reducing our impact on the environment by doing the following:

  • Comply with all environmental legislation applicable to our business
  • Continue to recycle wastes such as paper, cardboard, tetra packs, cans, glass, plastics and food wherever possible.
  • Minimise use of paper, stationary and disposable nappies
  • Minimise landfill by using washable nappies and raising awareness of this with our staff and parents
  • Monitor water usage and conserve where possible
  • Purchase electricity from renewable sources when current contract comes for renewal
  • Monitor and manage our energy consumption of water, gas and electric and progressively replace lighting with energy efficient alternatives.
  • Purchase recycled paper, other stationary and recycled goods where possible
  • Raise awareness with our employees and keep them informed on environmental matters
  • Make this policy available to parties on demand and via the staff handbook
  • Always promote the use of public transport to both staff, parents and children
  • Continue to promote and develop School Travel Plan
  • Consider the environmental policies of the companies and services that we use.
  • Encouraging wildlife and biodiversity by careful planting on the school grounds
